“We are either going to have a future where women lead the way to make peace with the Earth or we are not going to have a human future at all.”
- Vandana Shiva, Author, Activist, Pioneer, Scientific Advisor, Mother
“Philanthropy is a work-in-progress. Philanthropists are lifelong learners and every day brings new opportunities for learning. We learn from our mistakes. We learn from other givers and our grant recipients. We learn by collaborating, convening, partnering, leveraging. We learn to connect the dots and see the big picture.”
- Peter J. Klein & Angelica Berrie, A Passion for Giving
This year was transformative, with deep learning and more philanthropic gifts than ever before on this journey! We learned more about the foundation we are becoming and our theory of change by exploring the grant-making process through the “art of giving.” We met and were encouraged by so many powerful women. Even in turbulent times, we are inspired and excited to deepen our work in 2018!
March 10, 2017 -- The Womadix Fund announces an executive transition. Melissa (Loe) Marcoline, will begin as our Director on April 1, 2017. She started with the foundation in October 2016. She is passionate about her work with the Womadix Fund and is excited about this new opportunity to serve as an executive member.
Our goal in 2017 is to help shape and manage the foundation's strategy through practice and to participate in new funding environments, with the specific potential to bring new philanthropic resources to New Mexico. The Womadix Fund will continue baseline operations in Minnesota (MN), with an emphasis on existing relationships and funding partnerships within MN and Africa.
We wish to acknowledge the work of the departing executive, Kari Anderson, and express our appreciation for a smooth transition.
